2026 opens with decisions already in motion, affecting how Forest Therapy Hub trains professionals, structures research, and connects practice with evidence.
One of the first concrete shifts of the year is a new public Masterclass format: “Understanding Forest Bathing and Forest Therapy: Benefits, Science and Practice.” A format that responds to a recurring need in the field: clarity. In a single session, it offers a rigorous overview of how FTHub understands and structures Forest Bathing and Forest Therapy today.
Open to the public as a clear gateway to FTHub’s current training offer, it includes the internationally recognised Forest Bathing Guide and the advanced Forest Therapy Practitioner programmes.
The Masterclass introduces the FTHub Forest Bathing Guide and Forest Therapy Practitioner training pathways through the core elements of the FTHub framework: the FTHub Method, the Liquid Interactions Model (LIM), and the FTHub 5 Components of Nature-Based Interventions.
It situates the historical development of the practice, explains the transition from experiential knowledge to evidence-based methodology, clarifies distinctions and overlaps between Shinrin-Yoku, Forest Bathing, and Forest Therapy, and outlines research-backed health outcomes. The session also presents existing research and professional networks, including the FTI Lab and The Hub Seedlings Network, as active spaces for scientific collaboration and professional development.
Looking Toward the IV Global Summit
Preparations are underway for the IV Global Summit, scheduled for April 15–16, co-organised with the Diputació de Barcelona.
The Summit will convene international voices from research, practice, and public institutions to address the current and future landscape of Forest Therapy and Nature-Based Interventions. Full details of the programme and content will be shared shortly.
Paths Moving Forward
This year is not framed by promises. It is shaped by formats, collaborations, and decisions that are being refined. The aim is straightforward: to make Forest Therapy more legible, more research-grounded, and more usable across contexts, without diluting its complexity.
The programmes and courses now weaving through FTHub’s curriculum, including FTHub Summer Schools in Vancouver, Barcelona, New Hampshire( USA) and Oceans in Azores Islands -the 8-Day Immersion for Forest Therapy Practitioners with an international experts’ team of trainers-; the partnerships grounding landscape assessing in real places, and the ongoing projects across nature, health, ecology and social systems are active points of connection between people, places and knowledge.
What comes next is a field that breathes and expands across contexts and regions, where each conversation, study and step into nature extends the practice of Forest Therapy deeper into how we understand health, environment and collective wellbeing.
