By the end of this course, you will be able to design and facilitate trauma-sensitive nature-based sessions that support regulation and engagement for clients with trauma histories across clinical, educational, and outdoor settings.
Outcomes
What you'll gain
- Design a trauma-sensitive session for a specific client group using the Orienting Sequence and a defined 5-phase structure, with choice architecture built into every phase.
- Audit any natural environment for sensory, spatial, social, temporal, and somatic triggers, and plan a concrete response to each.
- Apply the FTHub Liquid Interactions Model and the SAMHSA Six Principles Of Trauma-Informed Care to your own facilitation context.
- Recognize the edges of the window of tolerance from body and breath, and respond with titration, pendulation, and a defined referral threshold within your professional scope.
- Communicate the scope and evidence base of trauma-sensitive nature work to clients, referrers, and colleagues using ready-to-use briefing templates.
Audience
Who is this course for?
-
Therapists and counselors: extend your existing clinical work with a regulation-supportive outdoor practice you can offer alongside your sessions, with a defined scope and clear referral routes.
-
Youth and social workers: deliver predictable, choice-based outdoor sessions for the young people and families you support, with structures that hold under unstable conditions and changing groups.
-
Educators and school counselors: translate outdoor learning into trauma-sensitive sessions for your own students, with professional briefings for staff, parents, and carers.
-
Intermediate level. No formal prerequisites required; designed for practitioners who already facilitate sessions with clients or participants.
