By the end of this course, you will be able to design and facilitate nature-connection sessions that engage the five evidence-based pathways and produce a measurable increase in your clients’ sense of connection to nature, in full nature, urban, or indoor settings.
Outcomes
What you'll gain
- Distinguish nature connectedness from contact, and design activities that build the construct measured by validated instruments such as the Connectedness to Nature Scale and the Nature Relatedness Scale.
- Recruit each of the Five Pathways (Contact, Emotion, Meaning, Beauty, Compassion) through specific attentional prompts, weighting Emotion and Beauty appropriately for the strongest evidence-based effect.
- Build a durable noticing habit in your clients through a portable daily transfer task, supported by the 30 Days Wild and the Three Good Things in Nature evidence on sustained connectedness gains.
- Produce a complete pathways-based session in 30-, 60-, or 90-minute formats for your own client group, with safety notes and a structured debrief, using the FTHub Activity Template.
- Communicate your session's purpose and evidence base to referrers, commissioners, and colleagues using the FTHub Evidence Summary Card and Client Communication Templates.
Audience
Who is this course for?
-
Nature-connection guides and facilitators: Forest Bathing guides, nature connection facilitators, and well-being practitioners gain a structured design framework that converts time outdoors into measurable connectedness gains with their own groups.
-
Health and social-prescribing practitioners: Primary care physicians, nurses, social prescribing link workers, and primary-care well-being coordinators add an evidence-based nature-connection offer with outcomes they can report back to referrers and commissioners.
-
Outdoor educators and coaches: Outdoor educators, wellness coaches, and retreat leaders convert exposure-based activities into pathway-based sessions that produce a lasting sense of connection in their clients.
