By the end of this course, you will be able to design and conduct a credible single-group pre-post evaluation of a nature-based intervention you deliver to your own clients or participants.
Outcomes
What you'll gain
- Design a single-group, pre-post evaluation plan for one nature-based intervention you deliver, with a written interpretation rule fixed before data collection.
- Select a validated outcome measure whose construct matches the change you claim and whose timescale matches your intervention.
- Recognize the validity threats specific to single-group designs, including regression to the mean, and apply the design response to each.
- Administer a two-point measurement protocol that holds instrument, mode, and administrator constant across both measurement points.
- Report your result to referrers, commissioners, and clients as the narrowest defensible claim, framed within the FTHub 5 Components of Nature-Based Interventions and informed by the FTHub Liquid Interactions Model (LIM, FTHub 2021).
Audience
Who is this course for?
-
Clinical nature practitioners: therapists, counselors, and psychologists who deliver nature-based work to clients and need a defensible measurement protocol that referrers and supervisors will accept.
-
Nature-health integration practitioners: social prescribing link workers, primary care physicians, and nurses who refer to or deliver nature-based programs and need evidence of outcomes that support commissioning conversations.
-
Institutional-facing forest therapy and outdoor practitioners: guides, group facilitators, and program leads delivering to clinically referred or institutionally commissioned participants who require documented evidence of program effects.
-
Prerequisite: If you already deliver a nature-based intervention to clients or participants, no prior research or statistics background is required.
