By the end of this course, you will be able to design and facilitate a nature-based session that produces a measurable physiological stress recovery response for your clients in corporate, coaching, and health settings, in 30-, 60-, and 90-minute variants.
Outcomes
What you'll gain
- Design a 20- to 40-minute stress recovery session for a specific client group and setting, using a structured far-to-near attention sequence calibrated to the dose-response evidence on single-session physiological recovery.
- Anchor your design in two validated frameworks, Stress Reduction Theory (Ulrich et al., 1991) and Attention Restoration Theory (Kaplan, 1995), and translate each mechanism into a specific facilitation decision rather than a general principle.
- Calibrate session duration, frequency, and site selection to the published dose-response thresholds, including the per-session 20- to 40-minute range (Hunter et al., 2019) and the 120-minute weekly threshold for sustained benefit (White et al., 2019).
- Adapt the session across populations, environments (full nature, urban green space, indoor with natural elements), and group sizes using a three-dimensional adaptation framework.
- Communicate the physiological evidence base to referrers, commissioners, and HR leads using calibrated client communication templates, and assess your own design against a self-assessment rubric before first delivery.
Audience
Who is this course for?
-
Corporate well-being professionals: add an evidence-grounded stress recovery session to your portfolio, with the dose-response parameters, adaptation framework, and communication templates needed to run it confidently with your own teams.
-
Coaches working with stress and burnout: give your clients a structured practice that produces a measurable physiological down-regulation, designed for the real constraints of the settings you work in.
-
Healthcare workers integrating nature into care pathways: add a specific, deployable stress recovery component to your practice, communicable to colleagues and commissioners in the physiological terms that institutional stakeholders accept.
-
No prerequisites beyond existing professional qualification. This is a continuing professional development (CPD) module that builds on the competence you already hold; it assumes you are qualified to work with the population you serve.
