Portugal

Sonia was born in Barcelona and holds a degree in Tourism Management, complemented by studies in Digital Marketing and E-commerce. Fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Catalan and French, she has built a broad intercultural understanding through an international professional journey that led her to live in four countries and work closely with communities from diverse cultural backgrounds. This experience provided her with a versatile professional profile spanning administration, client support, communication and operations.

At FTHub, as Learning and Finance Director, Sonia plays a central role in ensuring the organisation’s administrative, financial and operational coherence. She oversees the systems and processes that sustain FTHub’s international activities, managing day-to-day operations while guaranteeing transparency, accuracy and continuity across multiple time zones, partner institutions and project teams. Her work provides the structural backbone that enables the organisation to function efficiently as it continues to expand globally.

In her financial leadership role, Sonia is responsible for the management, monitoring and reporting of FTHub’s financial activities. She ensures that budgets, expenditures and financial forecasts are aligned with institutional objectives, values and project requirements. Sonia plays a key role in the administrative and financial management of EU-funded and international projects, including Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe initiatives, where she supports compliance with funding regulations, oversees financial reporting, prepares and organises documentation, and coordinates procedures with European and international partners. Her expertise is essential for maintaining accountability and clarity in complex, multinational collaborations.

Sonia’s contribution is crucial to the operational robustness necessary for the development and implementation of large-scale training programmes, international capacity-building actions and multi-partner research initiatives. Through her leadership, she ensures that FTHub can grow sustainably, respond to the administrative demands of high-level international projects, and provide a reliable organisational structure that supports trainers, researchers and partner institutions.

As Learning Director, Sonia is equally dedicated to the human and educational dimension of FTHub’s work. She supports students throughout their training journey, offering personalised guidance from the moment of enrolment to programme completion. Drawing on her multicultural experience, she can understand and navigate the cultural, linguistic and contextual differences that shape each learner’s experience. This sensitivity allows her to foster an inclusive, supportive and accessible learning environment for students from over 60 countries.

Sonia’s ability to integrate administrative precision with human-centred support reflects her unique combination of global experience, intercultural competence and commitment to well-being. Her work ensures that FTHub’s mission, bringing high-quality nature-based training to diverse communities, can be carried out with professionalism, care and organisational excellence.

Beyond her professional roles, Sonia has undertaken studies in Vipassana meditation, practises Ashtanga Yoga and maintains a deep connection with nature through trekking, surfing and outdoor activities. Her commitment to personal well-being and mindful living enriches her holistic approach to both life and work.
