Why train with Forest Therapy Hub?
The only method researched at scale with international public funding.
What sets this apart
What makes it unique
This is not a standard Forest Therapy certification. FTHub Summer School New Hampshire is the first expertly designed Forest Therapy Practitioner immersive training with a dedicated Nature Prescription module. Participants gain access to an online course and a practical Implementation Toolkit, developed by FTHub and international research partners, funded by an EU program, and designed to train healthcare professionals to prescribe nature as a structured health intervention.
The training takes place at Plymouth State University, in the heart of the White Mountains. New Hampshire is the second-most forested state in the United States, yet research shows that forest access alone does not translate into health outcomes. What matters is how people engage with nature: the depth, the intention, the quality of the facilitation, and the clinical framework behind the prescription. This training teaches all of it.
You will train across northern hardwood forests, riverside corridors, and mountain trails. Guided by FTHub’s training team and international experts present with you throughout the program, this is where forest therapy training meets nature prescription.
The location
The Setting
Plymouth State University, where the Pemigewasset River runs through a 170-acre campus that once counted Robert Frost among its faculty, sits at the gateway to the White Mountains. Defined by northern hardwood forests (sugar maple, American beech, and yellow birch), the landscape is interwoven with rivers, streams, and mountain trails. In late September, New England’s legendary visual journey from deep green into vivid orange begins to change the landscape. The training uses this transformative seasonal moment as both a setting and a teaching tool.
This is not a backdrop. It is the training.
Main program locations
Centre Lodge PSU
Plymouth State University (PSU) is a distinguished institution known for its innovative approach to education. PSU’s Centre Lodge, a multi-purpose campus facility nestled between the Silver Center for the Arts and Langdon Woods, serves as the main venue for the training.
Langdon Park PSU
Langdon Park, the university’s own riverside green space, serves as the primary outdoor training environment, with forest trails, open meadows, and water.
A TYPICAL DAY
Mornings begin in the forest. A Forest Bathing walk through sugar maple and beech canopy, a riverside session along one of the region’s mountain streams, or a guided practice on a mountain trail as the foliage begins to turn. After lunch, the group gathers at Plymouth State University for module content: theory, methodology, expert sessions, and debriefs. The rhythm is deliberate: experience first, then science, then integration.
Who Is This For?
Who is this training for?
From all backgrounds. At any stage.
Forest Bathing and Forest Therapy Guides trained by other organizations who are ready for advanced practice
Health and well-being professionals (psychologists, therapists, counselors, social workers, nurses, physicians) looking to integrate nature-based approaches
Educators, trainers, and facilitators working with specific populations in nature-based settings
Organizational well-being and HR professionals designing nature-based programs
Environmental and ecotourism professionals expanding into therapeutic services
Community health practitioners developing green social prescribing programs
Experienced nature-based practitioners seeking the highest professional certification and recognition
Curriculum
What you will learn
Six areas of advanced therapeutic competence.
Nature-Based Intervention Design
How to design structured, population-specific interventions with clear goals, session progressions, and outcome measures. You learn to create multi-session programs, not just individual sessions, using the FTHub 5 Components of Nature-Based Interventions as your design framework.
Working with Specific Populations
Adapting your practice to diverse groups: people experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, chronic conditions, social isolation, and life transitions. You develop the awareness to tailor interventions to the needs, capacities, and contexts of each group, from corporate teams to community health settings to therapeutic programs.
Advanced Facilitation & Holding Space
Deepening your facilitation practice: trauma-informed approaches, working with strong emotions, managing risk in nature-based settings, and the ethics of therapeutic practice.
Research Literacy & Evidence-Based Practice
Reading and applying research findings. Designing assessment frameworks for your programs. Contributing to the evidence base as a practitioner-researcher.
Healthcare & Institutional Integration
How to position Forest Therapy within existing pathways, healthcare, education, social care, and corporate well-being. Nature social prescribing models, referral systems, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the language and frameworks that institutions use.
Advanced Application
Building on the foundational understanding gained at the FTHub Forest Bathing Guide level, you apply the FTHub Method, the Liquid Interactions Model, and the FTHub 5 Components of Nature-Based Interventions at a therapeutic level, designing multi-session programs with structured sequences adapted to specific populations and institutional contexts.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Nature Prescription module of this Forest Therapy Practitioner training?
This Summer School is the first FTHub Forest Therapy Practitioner training to include a dedicated Nature Prescription module. Participants receive access to an online course and a practical Implementation Toolkit developed by FTHub and international research partners, funded by an EU program. The module covers the scientific foundations and practical application of prescribing nature as a structured health intervention — including how to work with healthcare professionals, link workers, and social prescribing systems to integrate nature-based interventions into preventive health, mental well-being, and community care pathways. This is not theoretical: you leave with a ready-to-use toolkit designed for clinical and community implementation.
