Carlo has extensive experience in applying nature-based solutions. He has been teaching soil and water bioengineering at the Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra (Portugal) since 2017. He was director of the Monti Sibillini National Park (2016-2020) and the Vesuvius National Park (1997-2005), in Italy.
PhD in Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering, he studied at the University of Naples and worked at the University of Lisbon as a researcher at the Prof. Baeta Neves Centre for Applied Ecology. He is a Forest Therapy Practitioner and collaborates with Forest Therapy Hub.
Presently, he resides in Italy but leads Forest Bathing practices also in Portugal. He has promoted and steered numerous international cooperation projects in the Mediterranean region, participated in international congresses and published dozens of articles. He actively participated in the life and activities of environmental NGOs in Italy, France and Portugal.
In 2020, on the initiative of Carlo, the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains identified and advertised, in each of its municipalities, a path where you can practice Forest Bathing. With this strategic project for protected areas, the Monti Sibillini National Park has been the first national park in Europe to offer this type of experience, in 19 locations, in an area of 70,000 ha.
During the course carried out in 2020 to the official guides of the Sibillini National Park, Carlo also conducted theoretical and practical seminars on Forest Bathing.
Carlo speaks and writes in Italian, English, French, Portuguese, and understands Spanish.
