The Success of the FTHub Summer School Forest Therapy Practitioner training, Contributing to Territorial Well-being

In collaboration with the Area of Natural Spaces and Green Infrastructure of the Diputación de Barcelona, FTHub has developed the first Summer School for professional training in Forest Therapy.

The FTHub Summer School Forest Therapy Practitioner is an international-level academic and human experience that Forest Therapy Hub, in collaboration with the Area of Natural Spaces and Green Infrastructure of the Diputación de Barcelona, developed from July 7 to 14 in Barcelona. The 2025 editions were also launched (see below).

An outstanding cast of academics and international experts were present to deliver the training program, each excelling in their contributions to forest bathing and forest therapy.

Won Sop Shin, former Minister of Forests and Professor at Chungbuk University (South Korea); Guangyu Wang from the University of British Columbia and the MINT Institute (Canada); Nevin J. Harper, Professor, Adventure Therapist, and Researcher (Canada); Xavier Roget from the Network of Parks of the Diputació de Barcelona; Jill Litt from the Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and the University of Colorado (USA); Antoni Sanz, PhD in Psychology, Professor and Researcher at UAB (Spain), and Alex Gesse, Executive Director of FTHub, as well as the FTHub training staff.

With the collaboration of the Diputación de Barcelona, the training included academic spaces immersed in nature, offering a unique connection with learning and the environment, fostering collaboration, creativity, and the well-being of the participants, thus contributing to this comprehensive and enriching training experience.

Thanks to the support of the Network of Parks of the Diputación de Barcelona, students from different nationalities, such as Colombia, Mexico, Latvia, Spain, Singapore, Finland, the United Kingdom, Poland, and more, had the opportunity to use two of the majestic 14 natural parks that make up this network as training campuses. These parks included the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve and the Collserola Natural Park, in addition to the Diputación’s own facilities in central Barcelona, and also urban gardens like La Maternitat, La Ciutadella, and the Garden of Silence. The training also utilized the facilities of the Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).

In summary, it was 8 days of theoretical and practical classes, forest bathing, and nature interventions, with additional access to the FTHub Professional in Forest Therapy online learning platform as well as 6 months of mentored practice.

A celebration of the responsible management of natural parks, which not only offer an inspiring environment but also fundamentally promote the health of people and the planet through education and training in green health.

New editions of FTHub Summer School 2025 have also been launched in Barcelona and Vancouver.
