Emma is a psychologist, MA. in Clinical Psychology from the Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia. She has worked as a psychotherapist in the healthcare system with people with chronic diseases (Cancer, Diabetes, Chronic Renal Insufficiency and Renal Transplant), leading the approach of the National Model of Psychological Care of the renal units of Baxter RTS. She was part of the psychological care team of the Welfare Centre of the ICESI University, Colombia, and has been working in her private practice for ten years.
Emma was the first certified Forest Bathing Guide in Colombia and offers this practice to groups in workshops and retreats, and individual nature therapies. Emma has been a meditator for many years, having participated in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) courses and the Compassion Institute’s Compassion Cultivation Training.
Emma also has a strong creative side and is passionate about literature and visual arts. She has trained in painting and illustration, was the director of a thesis project on drawing as a tool for emotional self-regulation in children with socio-economic vulnerability, has created a cartoon on social networks, and integrates art with psychotherapy, mindfulness and nature. Likewise, in 2021 she started her second master’s degree, this time in Literary Creation with the International University of Valencia.
Expressive creativity, mindfulness and the possibilities of resilient transformation offered by Forest Therapy are part of her research and application interests. Active in social networks, in her blog (esmindful.com) and as the creator of the podcast Simple de Mente, she seeks to use writing and her communication skills to generate psychoeducation on the importance of mental health.
